Observed and Experiential Integration (OEI)
Parts of the brain most associated with storage and retrieval of traumatic memories can be accessed through the eyes. Trauma is any event that is negative and unexpected causing you to feel confused, overwhelmed and powerless. OEI evolved out of EMDR and uses your eyes and eye movements to reduce trauma and negative thoughts/beliefs. The client is asked to cover and uncover one eye at a time and to follow the practitioner’s fingers with their eyes. The result is integration of the left and right brain, thus effectively bringing down trauma and anxiety for the client.
